I do the books so you can do the work.
I am Ray Kingston, a registered tax agent in Brisbane. I look after the bookkeeping, the BAS and the tax return for about 120 small businesses, on my own.
No obligation, and if you do not need me I will tell you so.

Here is what I take off your desk
Four things, and I do all four myself. There is nobody here to hand you to.
How I work
Ray Kingston
Principal, and the only person here
Bachelor of Business (Accounting). Registered tax agent. CPA.
Thirty-one years of this, the first eleven in a big firm and the rest on my own. You get my mobile number and you deal with me.
Book a free half hourBookkeeping and payroll
I keep the ledger current every week and run your payroll, so nobody has to chase a payslip on a Friday afternoon.
BAS and tax returns
I prepare and lodge them, and I tell you the number three weeks before it is due rather than three days after.
Cash flow
I build you a thirteen week view and keep it updated, so you find out about a tight fortnight while you can still do something about it.
The phone call before you decide
Buying a van, taking on a second person, moving to a company. Ring me first. That call has never been billed to anyone.
I have done this for 120 businesses and I know what changes
Most people come to me late, in the week the BAS is due, with a shoebox and an apology. This is what the first twelve months normally look like once that part is behind us.

Almost always because deductions were being missed, not because anything clever happened.
The ledger is current every week, so nothing has to be reconstructed in July from bank statements.
About a third of them have been with me for more than five years, which is the number I would check.
I asked three clients what actually changed
Their words, lightly cut for length. All three said I could use their names.
The three of them
- Priya Raman2021
- Bec Mallory2022
- Hana Ngo2023
What I charge, and what is in it
One fee, every month, no invoice for a phone call. Both plans include GST.
Pay for a year and two months are on me.
Nothing is locked in. Give me a month of notice and I will hand your file over clean, which is the only promise on this page I can actually keep on my own.

- Company return and your annual accounts
- Thirteen week cash flow, updated every month
- Half an hour with me at the end of every quarter
Things people ask me before they sign up
Still not sure?
Ring me and ask. Half an hour, no notes taken, and nobody sends you anything afterwards.
Book a free half hourDo I have to leave my current accountant?
Not until you want to. When you are ready I write to them, ask for your file and do the handover, so you never have to have the awkward conversation yourself.
What if my books are a mess?
They usually are, and it is not interesting to me. I quote the catch-up work separately and up front, so you know what the mess costs before I touch it.
Which software do you use?
Yours, if it is Xero or MYOB. If you are on a spreadsheet I will move you across and I do not charge for the move.
Do you do my personal return as well?
Yes. On the company plan your partner's is in there too, because by the time I have your file open it is the same half hour.
How quickly do you answer?
Same day, Monday to Friday. In the week before a lodgement, faster than that.
Am I signing a contract?
An engagement letter, which says what I do and what it costs, and which either of us can end with a month of notice.

Let us have a look at your books
Half an hour on the phone. I will tell you what I would change, roughly what it would cost, and whether you need me at all.
